It was during the 2018 World Cup that I decided to start this blog. Brazil were toiling to score against Switzerland (I think) and the match’s co-commentator, Danny Murphy, decided to lay into Neymar by stating: “He’s used to the service he gets playing alongside players like Xavi and Messi” despite a.) transferring away from Barcelona over a season ago and b.) Xavi having left Barcelona in 2015… I was left exasperated. Danny surely you can do better?
I know football broadcasters like to cater for the beer-swilling everyman, but seriously as an ex-Liverpool pro you’d think Murphy would have at least prepared a little. So as an avid sports lover, season ticket holder at Newcastle United, former betting shop manager and someone that spends between 300-400 hours a season playing each version of Football Manager, I feel like I have something to contribute to the wider conversation that goes beyond “player x should just kick the ball better.”
I’m still trying to figure out what my niche in the football content game might end-up being, but expect content relating to Fantasy Football, Football Manager tips, some player scouting, myth de-bunking and probably a few hundred articles about Newcastle United and its fans. Hope you find something you enjoy.
PS. I also run a new music podcast which you can find here and if you fancy a chat for whatever reason, then contact me on Twitter.
