EPL Fantasy Football 18/19: Player picks Game Weeks 21 – 24

Kev Lawson January 14, 2019

Phew! After the feast of football served up over the festive period (the only time footballers really earn their corn),  it’s nice to get back into the new year and wonder about how the transfer window and any managerial changes might affect the thinking and planning of virtual managers across the globe.

But before we get into any advice, we have the small matter of the award some £5 prizes to the managers who scored best in GW’s 13 – 16 and GW’s 17-20 as part of my “put my money where my mouth” is – Best In Fives league.

Gameweeks 13 – 16  Total Points Gameweeks 17 – 20  Total Points
Dave Eaves 250 Kevin Lawson 244
David Gentry 249 Taylor Williams 241
Jon Hillcock 247 Dave Eaves 236
Michael Matthews 239 Russell McGowan 235
Andrew Kemp 236 David Gentry 232

Congrats to my old pal Dave Eaves for his usual trick of getting better as the season rumbles on – a fiver will be winging its way to you soon.

On that note, as promised at the start of the season I’ve been calculating the points in blocks of four-game weeks which I stupidly thought would be easy… As it turns out it’s quite time-consuming, so from now on, I’m going to take advantage of the tools provided by the Fantasy Premier League and do monthly totals based on the calendar. That will mean in future seasons December will be jampacked, but all I yearn for is an easy life so ?‍♂️

Anyways, as I’m a bit late with the post, I’ll stop rambling and so I’ll do another more extensive guide on using your second WildCard at the end of the month, once the transfer window has shut. So with just a couple of games left in the month here are some VERY obvious player recommendations:

Midfielders

This is pretty easy. Unless you’ve really not been paying attention, Man Utd’s Paul Pogba (£8.5m) is legitimately playing like a hundred million pound footballer at the moment, providing goals and assists at will as part of a rejuvenated squad. Alongside him, is Martial (£7.5m), who is a decent swap for the faltering Richarlison and  I fancy to score a hat full between now and the end of the season.

Forwards

MARCUS RASHFORD!!!!!!! ⚽??? He’s cheap, and over the second half of the season, he’s going to show why he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Mbappe.
